Garden Odyssey Enterprise

From: Manchester, England

This obscure Manchester outfit issued their first 45 ('Sad And Lonely' b/w 'Sky Pilot') on the Deram label in the fall of 1969. Members included Percy Gibbons Jr. (guitar, vocals), Roy Ellis (lead vocals), Jonathan M. Perkins (lead guitar, vocals), Dave Harvey (drums, piano, lead vocals) and David Wright (bass, vocals).

The excellent, fast-paced 'Sad And Lonely' was written for the group by well known songwriter and future 10cc member Graham Gouldman, while the B-side is a funky, original instrumental penned by the ensemble. It should be noted that the word "Odyssey" in the band's name was inadvertently misspelled "Odyssy" on both the U.K. and Dutch releases of this record. In 1972, they shortened their name to Garden Odyssey and issued another single ('The Joker' b/w 'Have You Ever Been To Georgia'), this time on the RCA label, with both tracks co-written by Gouldman.
