Drake (marketed at "dRAKE") was actually Paul Revere & The Raiders guitarist and Chicago native Drake Levin (born Drake Levinshefski in 1946) who had embarked on a solo career while still in the studio version of the band, releasing one 45 ('On The Road To Mexico' b/w the outstanding 'Glory Train') by himself on the Parrot label in late 1966. At this time, Levin had already stopped performing live with the Raiders due to a military service obligation he had to fulfill after joining the National Guard.
