The Hour Glass was a Los Angeles based blue-eyed psychedelic soul band that is best known for including future Allman Brothers principal siblings Duane (lead guitar, electric sitar) and Gregg Allman (vocals, guitar, keyboards). The group formed in early 1967 when the aforementioned Allman brothers (who had recently dissolved their Florida based group the Allman Joys) joined forces with Mabron McKinney (bass), Johnny Sandlin (drums, guitar, gong) and Paul Hornsby (keyboards, guitar, vocals) who were all previous alumni of the Alabama based ensemble the Men-its.
