The Oxford Watchband

From: Rochester, NY, USA

Very little is known of this Rochester band that issued one obscure, but great 45 ('Diagnosis (One Way Empty & Down)' b/w 'Welcome To The World') on the Hand label in the summer of 1969. Members included Gary Casale (bass, vocals, saxophone), Brad Wheat (guitar), Gino Charles (drums) and Peter Fuino (lead vocals, saxophone). The A-side of the record is pretty weird, but comes together perfectly after a few listens, while the flip is a solid, longer hymn with some strong orchestration.

Artist information sources include: The book, 'Fuzz, Acid, and Flowers Revisited' by Vernon Joynson.
