The Don Meehan Project

From: New York, NY, USA

This New York City based, studio only ensemble was concocted in 1969 by successful Columbia Records engineer Don Meehan with the assistance of producer and arranger Jimmy "Wiz" Wisner. It all supposedly started when Meehan dug the song 'House In The Country' by Blood Sweat & Tears so much that he decided to record a version of it on his own through their shared label. This rather unique version was released as a single during the spring of 1969 and is quite good in its own weird way. The record also sold well enough to prompt a second 45 ('My Silent Symphony' b/w 'Mon's Meg') that was issued about three months later. As a side note, it should be noted that as an engineer, Meehan has garnered at least thirty Gold and Platinum awards throughout his lengthy career.
