The Excelsior Spring

From: London, England

This short-lived, London based outfit formed in 1969 and released one single ('Happy Miranda' b/w the mellow 'It') on Immediate Records' experimental subsidiary label, Instant. The band occasionally played as a supporting act at the Marquee Club, but never made it big. The only two members verified to be in the group were Mike Finesilver (bass) and Peter Ker (lead guitar, flute), who had previously written and played on Elli's single 'Neverind' in early 1967 and then later went on to join the folk-based outfit Heron. Both tracks on the Excelsior Spring 45 were also penned by Finesilver and Ker.
