Drake (marketed at "dRAKE") was actually Paul Revere & The Raiders guitarist and Chicago native Drake Levin (born Drake Levinshefski in 1946) who had embarked on a solo career while still in the studio version of the band, releasing one 45 ('On The Road To Mexico' b/w the outstanding 'Glory Train') by himself on the Parrot label in late 1966. At this time, Levin had already stopped performing live with the Raiders due to a military service obligation he had to fulfill after joining the National Guard. In the spring of 1967, Levin was officially ousted from the Raiders and went on to form Brotherhood with another ex-Paul Revere & The Raiders member named Mike Smith.
