From: Manchester, England
Not much is known of this Manchester harmony pop outfit that was originally known as the Track, issuing one 45 under that moniker during the summer of 1966. As the Nocturnes, they released two LPs and five singles between 1967 and 1969. Original members included Eve Graham (vocals), Sandra Stevens (vocals), Ken Taylor (guitar), Nicky Waller (bass, vocals), Ross Mitchell (drums) and Jon Camp (keyboards).
Around late '67, both Stevens and Camp left the fold and were replaced by Lyn "Tanzy" Paul (vocals) and Pat O'Hearn (keyboards). It was this lineup that issued a self-titled studio LP in 1968, along with an excellent cover of the 5th Dimension's 'Carpet Man' that was only included as the promo-side of their fourth Nocturnes 45 issued in the summer of that year. A final single was released in late '68 followed by a live LP in 1969. After the ensemble's breakup that occurred not long after the release of their second album, Graham became a member of the New Seekers later in '69, followed by Paul in 1970. Stevens went on to join the Brotherhood Of Man in 1972.
