Very little is known about this L.A. artist who issued a self-titled LP and two 45s in 1970, and a final single in 1972, all on the Hollywood based Amaret label. Dave Antrell was in actuality the stage-name of David Harrison Antrobus, who was finishing up his undergraduate studies in pre-med at Stanford University when his album came out on Amaret.
Prior to releasing his records, Antrobus had been a songwriter in the late 60s working for well-known Association producer Gary S. Paxton. The song he wrote that is featured here on TWOS (the infectious 'She Loves Me') is an unreleased gem (presumably from circa 1970) that is known to feature Wisconsinite, Curt Boettcher of Sagittarius and Millennium fame on backing vocals. It should be noted that Antrobus eventually graduated from the University of Southern California’s medical school in 1974 and by the mid 80s ran his own practice at the Valley Oaks Medical Clinic in Hollywood. He also went on to own one of the largest collections of Doo-Wop records in the world, giving him the well-deserved nickname of "Dr. Doo-Wop".
