A New Generation

From: Stoke-on-Trent, England

Originally called the New Generation (on their first 45), this U.K. outfit consisted of brothers Iain (guitar, vocals) and Gavin Sutherland (bass, vocals), along with Christopher Kemp (organ, vocals) and John Wright (drums). They issued three singles on the Spark label in 1968 with the last two adjusting their moniker slightly to A New Generation, which is what they were best known as. The B-side of their first 45 ('Digger') is excellent, as well as the A-side of their last ('Police Is Here'). The Sutherland brothers of course went on to release several LPs and singles in the 1970s, first by themselves and then with the band Quiver.
