Chesmann Square

From: Kansas City, MO, USA

Originally known as the Chesmann, this Missouri band formed in 1964 with original members Dave Huffines (lead guitar) and brothers Ron (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Steve (bass, vocals) and Gary Hodgden (drums, vocals). They were very popular around the local area, gigging in various clubs and other hotspots. In 1967, Huffines left and was replaced by Jim McAllister (lead guitar).

The group issued their one and only record ('Circles (Instant Party)' b/w 'Try') on the local Lion label in 1969. The A-side is an outstanding and highly original cover of the Who classic, including some excellent lead guitar licks. The flip-side is also very good and an acoustic, band original written by the Hodgden brothers.
